The Get-Out-of-Jail-Free Card
Faced with a billion-dollar budget deficit, Michigan expedites the release of some prisoners.
So says the Newsweek.
Hmmm…And i can think of two ways to look at this.
[1] The prisoners will all come out and kill normal citizens. This seems like a good thing, dusinit? I mean, ultimately, the number of people suffering due to recession will reduce.
[2] On the other hand, is a side-effect. Maybe the criminals will just steal whatever little money that is remaining. Ouch! A wee-little bad, na? O wait, even might be a good thing. Really. ‘Coz, ultimately, starvation and other Credit-Crisis-consequences will mean that the number of people suffering due to recession will reduce.
Simply because, the suffering will reduce the number of people by killing them off. There will be no one left alive, who might bother to suffer.
So, after due consideration and very deep thought, and after consulting all my (uhm…) consultants, this is the conclusion that i have arrived at.
On the whole, the positives far out-weigh the negatives. Good decision by Michigan, i guess. That’s exactly why the Newsweek closes the (stub-)article with the following words,
Could more states be close behind?
I say,
How could they not?
I lauv USA.
dude, is this true??? [amazed, very]. another interesting fact: “Michigan spends an average of $32,491 per year to house, feed and otherwise take care of a single inmate”. calculate the equivalent amount in INR and compare….. watsay?
